In late December, a new patient at Dan Forest hospital in southern California began experiencing fever, chills, headache and other symptoms that prompted the hospital to immediately quarantine the patient, according to an investigation by NBC News.
A second patient was also reported to be showing symptoms in the early hours of Friday, according a hospital spokesperson.
In addition to the two patients, two other patients were brought to the hospital for similar symptoms, according the spokesperson.
The hospital’s emergency management team was notified of the outbreak and has been working with federal and state health officials to contain the outbreak.
A hospital spokesperson said that they are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the California Department of Public Health and Sanitation to identify and test all of the patients.
The spokesperson added that there is no evidence of any other health problems associated with the new patients.
